Santa Barbara, Calif. - After two rounds of play at the OGIO-Pacific Intercollegiate, Long Beach State currently sits in eighth place as the 49ers recorded a score of 603. LBSU shot an opening round of 305 at the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course and came back in the second round to improve seven shots to finish with a 297. Fellow Big West Conference member Cal State Northridge sits on top of the standings as they hold a commanding 15-shot lead ahead of second place and tournament host UC Santa Barbara as the Matadors recorded a two-round total of 568.

On individual play, Michael Drake was the top player for the 49ers as he's currently tied for 26th place. Drake shot a three-over 74 in both rounds for a score of 148. Ricky Montanez and Karl Katnik are both tied for 40th with a 15, followed by Issei Suenaga tied for 54th and Aaron Slonim tied for 63rd. Jeremy Keller, who is playing as an individual, stands tied for 58th. Troy Merritt (134) of Boise State is in first place with a two-shot lead over Aaron Hobbs of CSUN (136).

"We were actually playing very well in the afternoon, but we gave up quite a few shots on the last three holes, and that cost us about four spots in the standings," said LBSU Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "While it is good that we scored lower in the afternoon, we are still just not playing anywhere near our potential, and we need to figure out why that is."

Final round play concludes on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
