Stanford, Calif. - Long Beach State sophomore Brenda Chhuor tied for 33rd place as she was the top individual for The Beach as she shot a 8-over 79 in the opening round of the Peg Barnard Invitational on Friday. Senior Katy Barrett is two-strokes back with an 81 as she finished the day tied for 47th. Freshman Lindsey McAtee (82) is tied for 53rd, followed by Erin Cylke (84) tied for 61st and Reina Rogers (90) is tied for 72nd. Karinn Dickinson of Washington leads the field with an even 71. As a team, the 49ers are currently in last place with a score of 326. LBSU is five shots back of fellow Big West Conference member UC Irvine and Tennessee-Chattanooga as both teams are tied for 12th with a 321. California is on top of the leader board with a 295 as the Golden Bears hold a two-shot lead over second place Washington. Tournament host Stanford is in third place (300). "It was another disappointing round with high scores, especially for this course," said LBSU Head Coach Sue Ewart. "We practiced this afternoon for a while so hopefully we can rally the troops and come back on Saturday for some better scores."
